What We Do
We are a nonprofit organization that offers relief to firefighters' families while also supporting the community. We pride ourselves in being able to provide services for people affected by fires.
The purpose of the Foundation is to:
- Provide financial assistance to the families of its members in case of death, disability or serious injury/illness
- Provide limited financial assistance to citizens of Butte County directly impacted by emergencies and/or events
- Provide financial support to established nonprofit organizations (such as Burn Centers, Children Cancer Camps, etc.)
- Provide limited financial support to community events that impact the membership
The BCFBF started in the 1970s as the Butte County Firefighters Burn and Benevolent Fund. It had a very slow start until a great idea occured to one of our members. He began our annual signature fundraiser, the Crab Feed! Since the crab feed began, we’ve been gaining support and our fundraising efforts have grown exponentially. Our mission stays the same: to help the families of firefighters and to help the community members who have been affected by fires.
